A community-driven movement rooted in trust and lasting impact.
Founded in March 2022 and legally registered under the Ethiopian Civil Society Organizations Agency (Registry No. 6567).
Serving the communities most others cannot reach.
The Development and Humanitarian Organization (DAHO) is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organization founded in March 2022 in Ethiopia. We are legally registered under the Ethiopian Civil Society Organizations Agency (Registry No. 6567).
DAHO is committed to serving Ethiopia’s most vulnerable, marginalized, pastoralist, and hard-to-reach communities. We work through inclusive, community-led programs that combine humanitarian assistance with sustainable development.
We are more than just a nonprofit — we are a community-driven movement founded on trust, transparency, and lasting impact.
Empower vulnerable communities.
To empower Ethiopia's most vulnerable communities through sustainable, inclusive, and community-led programs that build resilience, dignity, and opportunity.
Resilient, dignified futures.
A future where every Ethiopian community — no matter how remote — has the resources, rights, and resilience to thrive.
Multi-sectoral & rights-based.
We integrate humanitarian assistance with sustainable development, working hand-in-hand with communities, local leaders, and partners to design lasting solutions.
Every person we serve is treated with the respect they deserve.
Communities lead the design and delivery of the programs that shape their lives.
We invest in people, skills, and systems so change lasts long after we leave.
We are open about our work, our funding, and our results.
We reach the marginalized, the pastoralist, and the hard-to-reach — no one is left behind.

Community-led. Rights-based. Multi-sectoral.
We take a multi-sectoral, rights-based approach that integrates humanitarian assistance with sustainable development — working hand-in-hand with communities, local leaders, and partners to design and implement sustainable solutions.
Every project starts with the people it will serve. We listen first, then build alongside — combining rigorous program design with deep local knowledge.
